The process of producing an instructional video is very similar to that of a corporate flick. The major difference is that the script is usually pinned down fairly tightly.

How does this thing work?
Instructional video

Before your ideal video instruction is completed, there are some things that’ll actually need be done. What follows here is a description of the three different stages of pre-production, production and post-production, wher we’ll bring you up to scratch on what you might expect.

Stage 1: Pre-production

Intake
In the intake-interview we’ll discuss exactly which instructions you wish to convey in your tutorial. Keep in mind that we’re dealing with moving pictures, here. Hence, there’s no need to tell it all. Sometimes the mere action speaks for itself. We determine the aim and intended audience, as well as what your demands and desires are regarding content and style.

Voice-over
When producing a tutorial video, the voice-over tends to be the leading factor in the film. This professional voice clearly explains exactly what should ideally be shown in the images. It is useful to start out with that in mind. You decide whom you want the text for the voice-over be written by: us or you. Naturally, we serve you with good advice concerning the content.

Shotlist
There’s not always the need to use a fully written script. Often a specified shotlist that corresponds to the voice-over text will suffice. In this way, you cut costs early on, in the preliminary traject. The shotlist exactly describes the images we’ll shoot. In case this needs addendum, this is the time to add additional information to the shotlist.

The Breakdown-business
After all this, we construct a breakdown analysis. This basically means that we determine how to fill up the time we have for shooting as efficiently as possible, incorporating possible external factors. We assemble the production-team, if necessary we book actors and extras, pay a visit to the location(s) to determine where we are going to film what, and we arrange the necessary materials and possibly props, as well.

Callsheet
We make a callsheet and send this to our crew and everyone else involved. This document states clearly and precisely who should be when and where at what time at the shoot.

Stage 2: Production
This stage is where the actual filming takes place. We dispatch our various means of hardware equipment, such as a minicrane, which enables us to shoot footage at higher altitudes and construct beautiful high-low tilts and left-right pans with our camera. Or we could use a dolly, which is a tripod on wheels that helps generate splendid shots.

Stage 3: Post-production
Having acquired all the necessary footage, we start the preliminary editing: we ‘cut’ the raw footage ‘clean’. We insert the voice-over and add the music to the training video. We provide you with a rough draft in between. This will give you an incling what the end-product will be like. We deliver your tutorial video officially on a master-DVD and if called for as an internet-file, as well.
